Guess the politician that said this quote:
“We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States — but those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law. They are showing disregard for those who are following the law. We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently and lawfully to become immigrants.”
And round 2:
We’ve got to do several things and I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants . I made this exception basically on humanitarian grounds because of the individual story but certainly we’ve got to do more at our borders . And people have to stop employing illegal immigrants . Come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau counties, stand in the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx – you’re going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work.”

I don’t know enough about American politics to guess, all I know is it’s someone who can form actual sentences, so not the stable genius.

Since you are often concerned with context, what are the contexts of those quotes?

I’ll bite.
I’m guessing the first is Obama, and the 2nd is Trump.
The issue is context, though. Obama was presumably making his statement in defense of policies opening more avenues for legal immigration (thus reducing illegal immigration).
Given that I’m only the 3rd generation of my family to be natural-born American (meaning my Grandma and Grandpa were welcomed here), I’ve kinda got a soft spot in my heart for people that want to come here. We’ve built a reputation for being the “Greatest nation”, a nation of freedom founded by those fleeing oppression and fighting for liberty, and welcoming to those that are like minded.
I’ve been ignoring the news a bit recently, but I’m assuming you’ve made this post in response to the outcry I’ve heard about the recent ICE raid/roundup. That has to be the most stereotypical, low hanging fruit of a target I can imagine. I’d like to think that our ICE/border control would at least be going after violent and dangerous criminals that have come here illegally, as opposed to hitting up fucking 7-11's to round up working people . Way to protect the country, guys! MAGA!
And while we’re at it...

I know the quotes are BO and HRC. Neither mention that illegal immigrants are rapists and drug dealers. Nor do either talk about setting up a deportation task force and “joke” about deporting Americans that don’t agree with them.
Illegal immigration should be dealt with, but calling them derogatory names and lumping them as all violent criminals does nothing to solve the problem. Like all politicians, it’s lip service, one just incites a base and helps them feel empowered to potentially do illegal things to illegal immigrants (or in some cases, legal citizens).

Interesting thing is, Herbert Hoover was probably the most successful businessman the U.S. has ever had for president. He knew more than a thing or two about making money, certainly had more success in business than twerps like Reagan or Donald ever did. And he still understood the importance of public services.

Wait, so was Hillary really for open borders then after all, or was she for a sensible immigration policy?
We do know neither of those quotes were trump because they didn’t have dog whistles (or air horns in most cases) for the deplorables in the base.

Yep, Hoover was actually self-made, rather than being an entitled trust fund asshole who acts like he built it all, where he’d be nothing without daddy. Not a perfect president (none are), but he wasn’t a deceitful dotard either.
